Univision expands Corporate Responsibility Team

Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) announced the promotions of Ronald Estrada to Senior Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility & Community Empowerment and Stephen Keppel to Vice President, Social Impact & General Manager of Rise Up, effective immediately. Estrada, who was most recently Vice President of National Community Empowerment, will remain based in Washington, D.C. and Keppel will remain in Miami, both reporting to Jessica Herrera-Flanigan, Executive Vice President of Government & Corporate Affairs.

Estrada will spearhead corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community empowerment matters, including the execution and implementation of the Company’s community empowerment platform, Univision Contigo (Univision With You), in close collaboration with the Univision CSR Council. He will also liaise with leaders and key stakeholders at community organizations, nationally and locally, as well as non-profit and government entities. Prior to joining UCI, Estrada was a member of the executive cabinet for UnidosUS (formerly known as National Council of La Raza), the largest national Hispanic advocacy and civil rights organization in the nation. He oversaw the Integrated Marketing and Events Group (IME) at UnidosUS and was responsible for advancing the institution’s mission to broad, diverse audiences, and generating unrestricted funds for the organization.

Keppel will lead UCI’s Social Impact team and oversee the Rise Up platform, to drive positive change for the Company’s audiences at Univision and Fusion Media Group (Gizmodo Media Group, The Onion Inc, and FUSION TV). An industry leader, Keppel has served in different capacities within UCI, including as Financial Content & Economics Editor and most recently as Vice President of Social Impact & Deputy Managing Director Rise Up.

“Ron demonstrates the leadership and drive needed to continue to innovate and leverage Univision’s platforms and partnerships to inform, empower and entertain our community,” said Jonathan Schwartz, Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer, UCI. “Stephen’s understanding of our diverse audience will ensure that we will continue to push barriers while delivering strategic ideas to advance our overarching mission and make a real and lasting difference. Both Ron and Stephen will be key leaders as we engage the new American mainstream through CSR and social impact efforts.”

With the additional promotions of Claudia Prado to Director of Community Empowerment, Claudia Bojorquez to Director of Social Impact, and Emilce Elgarresta to Senior Director of Content & Production, the Company’s award-winning corporate social responsibility and empowerment platform will continue to focus on empowering and enabling Hispanic communities to build strong minds, promote healthy habits and celebrate diversity.
