Univision unveils Univision Media Center at the New Venture Middle School in the Bronx

Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) unveiled the Univision Media Center at the New Venture Middle School in the Bronx. The first of several Univision Media Centers planned for middle schools in the U.S., this first of its kind facility will provide students with the tools and training to understand how a media newsroom operates. In addition to gaining experience with production and editing equipment, the students will receive training from media professionals at UCI.

“We began working with the New Venture School in early 2015 and as someone who was born and raised in The Bronx, it is inspiring to see the commitment of the principal, administrators, faculty, parents and students,” said Randy Falco, president and CEO, UCI. “This is the first of the Univision Media Centers we plan to create across the U.S. as part of our efforts to increase diversity in the media and technology sectors and our commitment to investing in the future generation of media professionals.”

“It is exciting to work with an organization with such foresight being led by a community minded visionary as demonstrated by Univision and Randy Falco,” said Dominic Cipollone, principal of M.S. 219 New Venture School. “The media center illustrates that through a corporate and public school partnership, students can be given the opportunity to develop college and career readiness skills.  This media center will provide our students with limitless opportunities to learn about the world of the media newsroom and the careers represented in this field.  I have no doubt that one day some of my students will be working at Univision.”
