Telemundo partners with Ford & Subway on Guerra de Idolos

Telemundo announced the sponsors of the upcoming musical drama series Guerra de Idolos (War of Idols), the first original musical drama series in Spanish-language television. The highly-anticipated production features an explosive combination of music, action and romance, and it is led by a select group of artists who act, sing and dance. Ford Motor Company and Subway will partner with Telemundo on multi-platform promotions that include product integrations and bonus content.

“We are very excited about this innovative and collaborative venture to bring Telemundo’s first original musical series to the Hispanic audience,” said Laura Molen, Executive Vice President, Lifestyle and Hispanic Advertising Sales Group, NBCUniversal. “The series’ sponsors will play an instrumental role in telling the unique story of Guerra de Idolos through innovative multi-platform promotions.”

As the exclusive auto sponsor, Ford Motor Company will showcase its latest high-level technologies via integrations within the series by providing a fleet of the 2017 models of F-150, Mustang and Explorer vehicles. Characters of the series will be seen riding in the Explorer, while others will use the Mustang’s interactive and voice-activated SYNC3 technology, appealing to millennials on the go, and the Pro-Trailer Backup Assist, a unique feature of the Ford F-150.

Subway will give fans a fresh take on what happens inside the series’ music studio through exclusive bonus content airing in commercial time. These exclusive custom scenes integrating the Subway brand and food products will engage consumers through interactions amongst key characters as they are writing and recording fresh new music at the studio.

An exciting and ground-breaking new project, Guerra de Idolos takes a deep look into the struggles in front of and behind the camera of those who manage and control the music business. An original story by Mariano Calasso, the series is directed by Max Zunino and Liliana Bocanegra with Martha Godoy as executive producer, and stars Alberto Guerra, Maria León, Alejandro de la Madrid, Juan Pablo Medina and Daniel Elbittar as “Julio César Solar,” a regional Mexican music idol. The series will premiere today at 8pm/7c on Telemundo.
