National Association Of Women Business Owners Honor … Anita Santiago.

Anita Santiago, president and creative director of Anita Santiago Advertising was honored into the National Association of Women Business Owners Hall of Fame on Friday, March 8th at the 16th Annual Hall of Fame Luncheon Awards.

The luncheon, held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, marks a return of sorts for Anita Santiago, who was previously honored by NAWBO in the year 2000 when she was presented with the annual Inspiration Award. Santiago has garnered more than 100 awards including the prestigious CLIO for her advertising efforts and her work has been noted in publications including Time, Business Week, The wall St. Journal and the LA Times.

Anita Santiago is responsible for some of the nation’s most significant Hispanic creativity in recent years, as evidenced by her outstanding record of more than 100 major national advertising awards, including the first-ever Hispanic Clio, as well as the only foreign language Belding Bowl Award in 1995.

Anita has the distinction of having created and developed the first tobacco education program for the State of California, with results that have been unsurpassed. Additionally, Anita’s expertise has assisted the Los Angeles County Tobacco Education Program in combating smoking and tobacco use among the region’s Hispanic population. She also launched the Hispanic initiative for the electric industry deregulation awareness program for the California Public Utilities Commission.

After accumulating a broad base of experience in the creative departments of major Latin American ad agencies, including FCB-Caracas, Grant-Mercaplan and Publicidad 67, Anita came to Los Angeles in 1980. At Bermudez Associates in Los Angeles, Anita was Creative Director, responsible for the national AT&T Hispanic account, and for Bank of America, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Mountain Bell, and Pacific Bell Yellow Pages.

In 1987, Anita founded her own agency, The Hispanic Group Advertising, which is now known as Anita Santiago Advertising.
