Cinelatino acquires rights to Los Simuladores.

Los Simuladores (The Pretenders), the television series produced by Sony Pictures Television (SPT), will premiere in the United States on November 15 exclusively on the nation’s leading Spanish-language movie channel, Cinelatino.

Shot entirely in high definition, Los Simuladores centers on the adventures of four operatives, trained and prepared to carry out sting operations. Far from solving “end-of-the-world” problems, they put their skills to work solving human-interest conflicts for their clients, including issues such as troubled marriages, dangerous loan sharks, swindling agents and broken hearts.

The team of Simuladores is made up of Mario Santos, the brain, who comes up with the plans; Emilio Vargas, the chameleon, who plays different characters in the operations; Pablo Lopez, the go-to man, in charge of logistics and all technical aspects; and Gabriel Medina, the researcher, who finds all the necessary data for Santos to come up with the plans.

“The superb production values, A-list cast, and compelling story lines make this the highest-caliber premium series currently available to U.S. audiences, unlike anything else on Spanish-language television,” said Jim McNamara, President of Cinelatino. “Cinelatino has now become the destination for ‘event’ movies and series.”

The series features a strong cast of prominent Mexican actors, including Arath de la Torre (La Parodia, La Hora de La Papa), Tony Dalton (Matando Cabos, 13 Miedos, Sultanes del Sur), Ruben Zamora (7 Días, Pasión) and Alejandro Calva (The Producers, The Pillow Man, Sin Memoria).

Based on the popular Argentine series of the same name, the acclaimed production captivated audiences when it debuted in late 2008 in Mexico on Televisa and in the rest of Latin America on Sony Entertainment Television. Due to the popularity and success of the original storyline, remake versions have also been produced in Spain and Chile.

After a highly-successful Season one, Sony Pictures Television began production on a second season of Los Simuladores earlier this year.
