Cinelatino acquires rights for Navidad S.A.

Cinelatino has acquired exclusive rights to “Navidad S.A.” (Christmas, Inc.).

In this multimillion dollar budget comedy produced by Lemon Films, Santa Claus must save the spirit of Christmas from excessive commercialism and in so doing, reverse the melting of the North Pole due to rising global temperatures.

“We’re thrilled to offer our viewers this Christmas blockbuster movie that also addresses the timely issue of global warming in a fun comedy that the whole family will enjoy,” said James M. McNamara, Chairman of Cinelatino.

Reinforcing the film’s global warming theme, “Navidad, S.A.” is Mexico’s first carbon-neutral production. To compensate for the CO2 used to make the film, Lemon Films made a substantial donation to Mexico’s largest environmental organization, “Pronatura.”

“Navidad S.A.,” featuring well-known Mexican actor Pedro Amendariz, Jr. and celebrated comedian Adal Ramones, is the first film written and directed by Fernando Rovzar. Brother Billy Rovzar, producer of the film, also produced of two of the highest-grossing Mexican films of all time: black comedy “Matando Cabos” (2004), and thriller “Kilometro 31,” both of which can be seen on Cinelatino.

“Navidad, S.A.” debuted in Mexico in November of 2008 with more than 600 copies, making it the Mexican film with the widest theatrical release in the history of Mexican cinema. The movie premiered Mexico City’s “Zocalo,” the main plaza in country’s capital and one of the largest city squares in the world.
