Latina Heads Up Film School.

Harvard-educated attorney Diana Derycz-Kessler, a Latina, became co-owner and chief executive officer of The Los Angeles Film School in April of this year.

The Los Angeles Film School is located in the heart of Hollywood and is dedicated to teaching the seven main disciplines of filmmaking. As the CEO, Diana overseas all business decisions within the school.

Diana has a remarkable background that includes a law degree from Harvard Law School, a master’s degree from Stanford, a “dual” bachelor’s degree from UCLA and 10 years as a successful businesswoman and attorney. Her friends call her the “Legally Blonde Latina”; she modeled for Elite Modeling Agency while attending Harvard Law School, appearing in numerous magazines and catalogs.

Although only 2 years old, The Los Angeles Film School has already positioned itself as a unique educational institution for aspiring filmmakers. The school’s faculty members are the Who’s Who of Hollywood for directing, producing, editing and cinematography, and include such names as Donn Cambern, Amy Vincent and Larry Paul.

The school’s advisory board members include Hollywood icons such as Faye Dunaway, Kim Pierce, Paul Verhoeven, Dede Allen, Amy Heckerling and Janus Kaminski.

Diana’s Latina heritage stems from her mother, a native of Mexico. Diana herself was raised in Mexico for much of her childhood. An admitted “Type A” personality, Diana is hard-working and extremely involved in the day-to-day operations of the school. Since her arrival, she has solidified relationships with well-known institutions, thereby accelerating the school’s growth and prestige.

Despite her busy schedule, Diana always makes time to meet with the students one on one, making the school a friendly place to learn. CNN Español recently interviewed Diana and Latino students for a report on the school. With all of the responsibility Diana takes on, and an impressive resume that speaks for itself, she deserves to be recognized as a powerful Latina role model. Go, Diana!

The Los Angeles Film School’s facilities in the heart of Hollywood incorporate contemporary production and post-production technology into a state-of-the-art “hands-on” curriculum.
