Latin Venture Names Finalists for Vamos Wireless! 2001 Venture Market.

Latin Venture has announced a list of finalist-companies that will present their business plans to investors at the upcoming Vamos Wireless! 2001 Conference and Venture Market, Feb. 12-13 at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Fla.

Chosen by a special panel of judges, the presenting companies are seeking both first- and second-round financing. The criteria for their selection included overall company strategy, market size, revenue model, competitive environment and quality of the management team. Nine of the eleven finalists submitted plans that employ wireless Internet applications for the Latin American market as a major component of their business models.

“We are very excited to be able to present these finalists to investors at our Vamos Wireless! 2001 Conference and Venture Market,” said Latin Venture CEO David Bernad. “Given reports of slowed economic growth and mixed press on some early stage mobile Internet applications, we have been pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the plans received as well as investors’ response to the event.”

The nine finalists that have confirmed participation are:

* Sysgold Corp., an application service provider (ASP) that focuses on automation of wireless services;

* Latin Data Corp., a subscription-based online service delivering proprietary, high-end business information and services via wireless to Latin American executives;

* Windwire, a provider of infrastructure technology for advertising and marketing on the wireless Web;

* LigaSport.com, an independent developer of online fantasy games incorporating a unique application of current and proprietary technology;

* Lineabox, a voice-applications provider offering pan-regional services in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic markets;

* Wireless Fusion, a provider of intelligent wireless Internet products and services;

* Jumpstart Wireless, a solutions provider that puts mobile workers in productive, instant and wireless communication with headquarters and other dispatched workers;

* Wireless Networks, Inc., which designs, develops, installs and manages Global e-Business Network Solutions; and,

* TelSurf Networks, Inc, a multilingual voice-portal software platform that enables wireless carriers and service providers to deliver audio content and services to their subscribers.

Latin Venture expects to announce the names of two additional finalists that will participate prior to the Vamos Wireless! 2001 Conference and Venture Market.

“As in the past, we expect every major investment player to be at our Venture Market and have already received 40 confirmations,” said Bernad. The past three Venture Markets attracted more than 200 investors, including Softbank, Warburg Pincus, JP Morgan Investments, CSFB, LatinTech Capital, the Exxel Group and others. Latin Venture has helped 45 companies raise more than $40 million in financing to date.
