Mayor Giuliani Declares Latin Alternative Music Week In NYC.

In yet another example of the growing respect and recognition for Latin alternative rock and hiphop, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has declared July 2-9 “Latin Alternative Music Week” in New York in recognition of the extensive series of concerts and panels organized in New York by the LAMC.

Among the highlights of this year’s conference are Manu Chao’s headlining appearance at Central Park SummerStage (his first NYC show in 10 years), Julieta Venegas & Los Amigos Invisibles at Celebrate Brooklyn! in Prospect Park, SGAE’s special showcase at the Bowery Ballroom (featuring Estopa, Rabanes & Ely Guerra), the Acoustic Writers-In-The-Round (w/David Garza, Julieta Venegas, Ely Guerra and more) and the LAMC Opening Night Party (with Delinquent Habits, Nortec artists, and several other acts).
