Telemundo & Billboard unite for musicians of Puerto Rico.

With the goal of helping in the education of students with limited economic resources, with aspirations to become musicians a donation was given to the Escuela Libre de Música in Hato Rey in Puerto Rico, by Don Browne, President of Telemundo and Lisa Ryan Howard, Publisher of Billboard at a symbolic event to take place at the school’s facilities on Thursday, April 29th.

The Escuela Libre de Música is the only school in Puerto Rico, with a general education program, majoring in music, from 7th to 12th grade.  The school was founded in 1946 and currently has over  600 students registered in their academic program. Its mission is to develop  the student musical artistic sensibility through an educational and learning plan.  In addition, it strives to create a sense of love towards the musical instrument and prepare the student  to enter the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, an institution that has developed top Puertorrican performing artists.

The donation of $10,000 will help fund the trip of the school’s Symphonic Orchestra to participate in the upcoming World Music Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York and to acquire sound systems and related equipment for the school’s Guillermo Figueroa Theatre.

This contribution takes place as Telemundo and Billboard bring to Puerto Rico the 12th annual Billboard Latin Music Awards and the Billboard Latin Music Conference.
