Mazola Corn Oil Promotion With Cristian Castro.

Mexican singer Christian Castro headlines a Spanish-language promotional campaign launched this week by Mazola corn oil in more than 2,000 food stores across the country.

Dubbed “Noche de Gala con Christian Castro” (A Gala Evening with Christian Castro), the promotion consists of a sweepstake competition lasting through April 30. The Grand Prize winner and a guest will be the pop ballad sensation’s VIP guests at one of five Mazola-sponsored concerts and private receptions he will hold this summer. The Grand Prize winner and guest will enjoy round-trip airfare and three days/two nights hotel accommodations in the concert city, or round-trip limousine transportation to the concert if no air travel is required. They also will receive $1,000 in cash. Twelve additional gift certificate prizes — six $1,000 and six $500 — will be awarded as second and third level prizes. Winners will be chosen on or about May 14, 2001.

“Noche de Gala con Christian Castro” is being supported by an expansive radio campaign in promotional partnership with local stations in each of 17 markets with large concentrations of Latinos. Those markets are: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Baltimore/Washington, Denver, El Paso, Fresno, McAllen-Brownsville, Miami,
Modesto, Philadelphia, Salinas/Monterey, San Francisco/San Jose and Stockton.

The promotion, part of Mazola corn oil’s long-standing efforts to market to Hispanics, was designed and executed by Miami-based MASS, Inc., a national, Hispanic marketing and promotions agency.

The makers of Mazola corn oil will also sponsor five Christian Castro concerts, which will take place in New York, Miami, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles in August and September. The concerts are a production of CFA, the main Hispanic special-events, sports and entertainment production company in the country.
