Jul-20-2012

Al Aguilar, Creative Civilization Chairman and CEO will receive the national 2012 Hispanic Marketing Achievement Award, to be presented at the 16th Annual Hispanic Marketing Midwest Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. on July 19, 2012. The award is presented annually to a leader who exemplifies extraordinary vision and commitment to the profession through creative strategies and new perspectives that advance the Hispanic marketing industry.

Nationally known as a pioneer of Hispanic marketing, Aguilar has been at the forefront of leading marketing for many of America's largest brands. He is also responsible for leading the next generation of Hispanic marketers gaining responsibility for total market solutions. His agency, Creative Civilization, has been at the forefront of this evolution.

As the head of the award-winning advertising agency, Creative Civilization, Aguilar was selected by his peers to be recognized for his accomplishments throughout the years and his continued contributions to strengthening the industry.

Aguilar's distinctive career began at an early age when he became inspired by advertising legend David Ogilvy and his "Confessions of an Adman." Aguilar pursued his advertising education at the University of Texas at Austin, and embarked on his career which led him to become part of the first-ever Hispanic marketing department for Coca-Cola USA, and eventually a principal of Sosa, Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, the largest Hispanic advertising agency in the United States.

As a recipient of the prestigious 2012 Hispanic Marketing Achievement Award, Aguilar has also been asked to speak to client, agency and media industry leaders from around the country, providing his expertise on the future of Hispanic marketing in a presentation titled, "Survive or Thrive? Confessions of a Hispanic Ad Man."

His rich history of Hispanic marketing leadership includes both client and agency experience working with national clients such as General Motors, Procter & Gamble, Anheuser-Busch, Sprint and American Airlines, to name a few.

He is a founding member of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) and served as the third Chairman of AHAA where he led the successful "VOTO" outreach campaign in building Latino voter registration and participation in the U.S. Aguilar also served as the founding Chairman of the American Association of Advertising Agencies' (AAAA's) Hispanic Committee.

Career milestones include being named Agency of the Year, twice by AdWeek Southwest and being named the first recipient of the Advertising Executive of the Year award by HispanicAd.com.

Through his leadership at Creative Civilization, Aguilar continues to revitalize the platform of Hispanic marketing through the Aguilar Strategy Model (ASM), a disciplined process designed to develop effective communication platforms that are true to the brand and relevant to the consumer. He leads his team with the mantra "Inspiration Is All Around Us" to motivate endless creative possibilities through the vast stimuli we consume every day.

Former recipients who also served as the selection committee for this distinguished award include: Alex Lopez Negrete, CEO of Lopez Negrete Advertising; Roberto Orci, CEO of Acento Advertising; Dolores Kunda, president and CEO of Lapiz Hispanic Advertising; Hector Orci, founder and co-chair of La Agencia de Orci & Asociados and Carl Kravetz, publisher of VidaySalud.com.
