Fernando Carrillo has been cast as rancher Carlos Rivera De Vega in "The Ponderosa," the new original PAX series set to premiere with a two-hour movie on Sunday, September 9 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The series also stars Daniel Hugh Kelly as Ben Cartwright, Matt Carmody as Adam Cartwright, Drew Powell as "Hoss" Cartwright, Jared Daperis as "Little Joe" Cartwright and Brad Dourif as Frenchy. Beth Sullivan ("Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman") and David Dortort ("Bonanza") are executive producers. Simon Wincer ("Lonesome Dove") directs the movie, and Judy Lyness produces. “The Ponderosa” is based on characters created by David Dortort.
Carrillo portrays Carlos Rivera De Vega, a handsome young horseman whose land (now the Ponderosa) has been taken away from him in the Mexican-American War. Carlos is indebted to Ben Cartwright who saves him from being shot by two drunken townspeople from Carson City.
