LBI Media announced that former Noticias Caracol anchor Jennifer Montoya Betancourth will join its Estrella TV flagship station KRCA 62 in Los Angeles.

Montoya Betancourth will take over the anchor desk for the 12PM and 5PM local newscasts in Los Angeles starting Monday, July 31, 2017.  In this capacity, she will be the lead anchor alongside KRCA 62’s award-winning news team, who in the most recent May Sweeps results became the #2 newscast (11PM) in the Los Angeles market regardless of language, beating ABC, NBC and CBS.[1]

Montoya Betancourth comes with more than 10 years of journalistic experience in her native Colombia, where she anchored the country’s highest rated national newscast, “Noticias Caracol.”  She was also the lead anchor for Caracol’s daily noon newscast, weekend primetime news and “Última Edición.”  Additionally, she anchored two national political affairs shows, “Análisis Mundial” on the Cablenoticias Network, which she also created and directed, and “Una Mirada al Mundo” for Caracol Internacional.

“We are elated to welcome Jennifer to our dynamic and dedicated news team here at Estrella TV’s KRCA 62 station. I am certain she will be a great addition to an already accomplished team, and we look forward to continue increasing our presence in the community as she takes over the news desk for two of our key local news casts,” stated Andrea Ospina, vice president of local news at KRCA 62.

Earlier in her journalism career,  Montoya Betancourth was the editor in chief of digital magazine Política Crítica and also worked at Blu Radio, a property of Caracol TV, as a Bogota correspondent.
