NBC UNIVERSO to premiere Alphas

NBC UNIVERSO announced the debut of Alphas, giving Hispanics a double dose of exciting sci-fi action beginning Wed. Aug. 19. Alphas will air weekly on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT after Battlestar Galactica, the classic cult series that continues to conquer audiences across languages and cultures.

Making its U.S. debut in Spanish, Alphas centers around five ordinary people who are brought together to form one extraordinary team of Alphas – people with the unique power to stretch the capabilities of the human mind, giving them superhuman physical and mental abilities.

“Compelling sci-fi series capture the imagination of U.S. Latino viewers,” said Bilai Joa Silar, Senior Vice President, Programming & Production, NBC UNIVERSO. “With both a classic cult series in Battlestar Galactica, and now a supernatural crime drama in Alphas, NBC UNIVERSO is offering our viewers outstanding, back-to-back sci-fi entertainment options on Wednesday nights.”

The one-hour Sci-Fi drama series from BermanBraun Television and Universal Cable Productions originally aired on Syfy and is directed by Jack Bender. Alphas stars David Strathairn as Dr. Lee Rosen as the preeminent psychiatrist and expert in Alpha phenomena; Ryan Cartwright as Gary Bell, an autistic man with a computer-like mind; Warren Christie as Cameron Hicks, a former Marine with amazing athletic capabilities; and Azita Ghanizada as Rachel Pirzad, who boasts super-enhanced senses.
