Ruiz named GM of Univision Salt Lake City station

Univision Local Media announced the appointment of Leonardo Ruiz to vice president, general manager of the Univision station in Salt Lake City, effective immediately. In this new role, Ruiz will oversee all aspects of station operations including Ad Sales, Marketing, News, Production and Promotions for Univision owned and operated television station, KUTH Univision 32, in Salt Lake City. Reporting to Lee Davis, executive vice president, Univision Local Media, Ruiz will continue to oversee sales for KUTH.  He will also remain general manager of Univision stations in Bakersfield: KABE Univision 39, KBTF UniMás 31, and KUVI MyTV 45, a position he’s held since 2013.
 
“Since joining Univision Bakersfield in 2013, Leonardo has played an integral role in elevating our stations in that market,” said Davis. “His industry experience and leadership in station operations and sales have been an asset to our teams and I have no doubt that with Leonardo as general manager, our station in Salt Lake City will be positioned for growth.”
 
Ruiz has held numerous positions at Univision since 2007. Before taking on the role as general manager in Bakersfield, he was the National Account Manager for Univision’s flagship stations in Los Angeles KMEX 34 and KFTR 46. He started as an account executive for Univision’s KSCA radio station before becoming the local sales manager for Univision’s L.A. Radio stations in 2008. In 2010, Ruiz was named the retail direct manager for Univision Los Angeles media group, managing local sales for TV, radio and digital properties.  Prior to joining Univision, Ruiz was the Director of Marketing for Chivas USA (Major League Soccer) from 2005-2007.
