Telemundo Deportes presents highlights of Tokyo Paralympic Games

Telemundo Deportes will present two highlight special shows around the Tokyo Paralympic Games, as part of NBCUniversal’s record 1,200 hours of Paralympic programming. Titled Juegos Paralímpicos Tokyo 2020, the specials will air on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, September 5 and will focus on Hispanic athletes and accomplishments by women competing in the Games.

The specials will be hosted by Emmy Award-nominee Ana Jurka and Emmy-Award winner Miguel Gurwitz who also anchored Telemundo Deportes’ coverage of the Tokyo Olympics. The first show will air this Saturday, August 28 at 11 a.m. ET/ 11:30 a.m. PT on Telemundo with an encore on Sunday, August 29 at 2 p.m. ET/ 11 a.m. PT on Universo and will highlight the best of the first week of competition.  The second installment will air on Sunday, September 5 at noon ET/PT with an encore at 2 p.m. ET/PT on Universo, recapping the best of the event. Both shows will also be available on TelemundoDeportes.com, the Telemundo Deportes app and on Peacock.

Among the Latin American athletes competing are: Hernan Barreto from Argentina who’s a two-time Olympic gold medalist who competes in disability athletics in the T35 category; the judoka and two-time gold medalist Eduardo Avila Sanchez from Mexico, competing in his fourth Paralympics; Amalia Perez from Mexico who has been in the para powerlifting scene for 20 years having won four Paralympic gold medals and two silvers; Team USA’s Nicky Nieves who will seek her second Paralympic gold medal in sitting volleyball;  Carlos Serrano, the Colombian para-swimmer that scored a gold, silver and bronze medal in Rio 2016; and Jefinho, the blind soccer star who has won all the major titles he has played including the last three Paralympics returns as part of the Brazilian soccer 5-A-side team.
