GSA launches first Public Service campaign in Spanish.

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced the launch of its first national public service announcement (PSA) campaign in Spanish to raise awareness of GobiernoUSA.gov and 1(800) FED-INFO, two valuable information services for Spanish-speaking Americans.

GobiernoUSA.gov is the official web portal for U.S. government information and services in Spanish, and 1(800) FED-INFO is the toll-free number that provides the same great information and help.

“The new Spanish-language PSA campaign will encourage the growing Hispanic community to use these two very helpful services,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. “It is fitting that we begin this effort during Hispanic Heritage Month, a time reserved to celebrate the countless and compelling contributions that Hispanics have made to enrich and strengthen our nation.”

The campaign material, sent to Hispanic media outlets nationwide, includes television, radio and print ads that highlight government services of interest to the estimated 44.3 million Hispanics who live in the U.S., comprising about 15 percent of the total population. The humorous television campaign, called “En casa” (“At Home”), features a Hispanic family discovering that the answers to questions about getting a Social Security number, starting a business and more can all be found online at GobiernoUSA.gov or by calling 1 (800) FED-INFO. The radio and print ads show how GobiernoUSA.gov or 1 (800) FED-INFO replace waiting in line when citizens are trying to obtain government information, benefits and services.

GobiernoUSA.gov also allows users to quickly find information on immigration, housing, federal programs and many other useful topics from official federal, state and local government resources.

Like USA.gov, the U.S. government’s official web portal, GobiernoUSA.gov and 1(800) FED-INFO are managed by GSA’s Office of Citizen Services and Communications.

Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government. GSA manages more than one-fourth of the government’s total procurement dollars and influences the management of $500 billion in federal assets, including 8,600 government-owned or leased buildings and 208,000 vehicles. GSA helps preserve our past and define our future, as a steward of more than 425 historic properties, and as manager of USA.gov, the official portal to federal government information and services. GSA’s mission to provide superior workplaces, expert technology solutions, acquisition services, purchasing and eGov travel solutions and management policies, at best value, allows federal agencies to focus on their core missions.
