Rodriguez – CMO @ Latin America Online.

Latin America Online, Inc. (LAOL) announced the appointment of Alex Rodriguez to the newly created position of executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Rodriguez will lead marketing efforts at LAOL, which will include all marketing, sales, publicity, advertising and brand marketing.

“Alex’s creativity and entrepreneurial drive, coupled with his ability to create relationships, are significant additions to LAOL,” said Sarkis Vartanian, Chairman and CEO of Latin America Online, Inc. “He brings a unique and innovative perspective on the Latino market to LAOL and our brands, which will thrive under his leadership and guidance.”

“I have an incredible passion for the Hispanic consumer and business segments, as well as the Internet and startup environments,” added Rodriguez. “LAOL has the capacity to deliver unique content through LatinaTeen.com, amazing entertainment through the music portal Xumbido.com, and an outstanding computer brand developed for Latinos through Microsystemas.com. We have a very sustainable revenue model which distinguishes us from other Internet companies. I am very excited about this opportunity where I will develop new ventures and strategic alliances, and look forward to making a positive impact.”

Rodriguez comes from VirtualHispanic.com, a marketing and public relations consultancy, where he was CEO. He has held senior positions for several other organizations including EthniCity, an executive search firm specializing in minority candidates, and the award-winning magazine Hispanic Business, where he served as director of the Strategic Services Group, the magazine’s event department. Rodriguez attended the University of California Santa Barbara where he majored in Film Studies, and has a Ph.D. in Business Ethics from the American University in Minneapolis.
