The 13th Annual Premio Lo Nuestro Awards Winners.

IThe enormous diversity of Latin music was clearly evident tonight at the 13th annual edition of Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina, the nation’s longest-standing and most successful Latin
music awards show. A total of 35 awards in four separate categories and more than 10 musical genres were handed out to some of the top names in the business before a packed house of stars, record industry moguls, television
executives, sponsors, reporters and fans.

The four-hour gala at this city’s James L. Knight Convention Center was beamed LIVE to the country by Spanish-language Univision Network, producer of the annual event. Except for three special tributes, which were determined by the network, winners were chosen independently by Hispanic radio programmers from around the country, based on the music charts
published between Feb. 1 and Oct. 31, 2000. The votes were tabulated and certified by the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen, LLP.

Hosted by Univision morning-show personality Fernando Arau and Mexican TV game-show host Marco Antonio Rejil, this year’s event contained 13 new awards and one new category: Latin Rock. A novel “People’s Choice” element also was added to this year’s mix, which allowed fans to vote for their favorite performers. Following is the complete list of winners:
