Al Dia launches ‘Emerging Hispanic Leaders’ Program.

Spanish-language daily newspaper Al Dia and the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC) announced a new program to recognize a new generation of Latino leaders.

The program will recognize 20 individuals from the Dallas-Fort Worth area whose contributions have had a positive impact on the local Hispanic community in the areas of community service, arts and culture, business and sports.

“With the same innovative philosophy that characterizes Al Dia, we’re starting this program to fill a need in the community by recognizing the work and spirit of service of a new generation of ‘Emerging Leaders,'” said Al Dia’s publisher Alejandro Sanchez. “Our objective is to recognize and motivate those Hispanics whose leadership has had a positive impact in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.”

Al Dia will begin to publish the 20 selected profiles starting July 24.

A panel of judges comprised of Al Dia and representatives of the Hispanic Chamber will consider nominations and submissions from the public. The 20 “new leaders” will be recognized in a December 10, 2008 gala event.

“We’re proud of this program that will recognize new local leaders that represent the values of our Latino community and are an example to all,” said CiCi Rojas, President and CEO of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “This is a new generation of future leaders that deserves to be recognized for their contributions to the community.”
