ImpreMedia led in awards from the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) with 27 total including 12 First Place prizes. The José Martí Awards for Excellence in Hispanic Print represent the most prestigious Hispanic media awards in the nation and are selected by a panel of expert judges from the field of media and publishing. The awards were presented at the 25th annual convention of the NAHP in New Mexico, March 10-14, 2010.

ImpreMedia’s Chicago-based weekly, La Raza, topped the list with most awards to a single publication including “Best Design” for a weekly and “Outstanding Lifestyle” and “Outstanding Entertainment” sections. In addition to the premier award given to La Opinión for “Outstanding Hispanic Daily Newspaper,” the publication took a total of five first places including “Best Entertainment Section,” “Best Sports Section” and “Best Special Section” for the Obama Inauguration. El Mensajero of San Francisco also won seven awards for articles published on politics, business and Hispanic success stories.

“We are proud of this recognition on behalf of the NAHP. Every day we strive to serve our audiences with excellent editorial content, and these awards again solidify our position as the leader in high quality content for the Hispanic community,” stated Monica Lozano, SVP Newspapers for impreMedia.

The NAHP José Martí Awards for Excellence in Publishing include six categories: general excellence awards, outstanding section, editorial writing, design, photos and cartoons and marketing.
