Volvo & Catalina Magazine Honor Latina Leaders.

Volvo announced its sponsorship of Catalina magazine’s 2004 “Groundbreaking Latina in Leadership” award. The partnership celebrates the exceptional volunteer efforts and leadership skills of Latina community leaders across the country.

The Groundbreaking award is being presented at Catalina magazine’s third annual “Celebrating Latina Leaders” event during Hispanic Heritage Month, in Washington, D.C., in recognition of outstanding contributions by Latina leaders to their community’s development.

The winner will win a trip to Washington, D.C., to attend the evening awards ceremony (where she’s the star!)!

Nominations for the 2004 “Groundbreaking Latina in Leadership” award are now being accepted at Catalina magazine’s web site: http://www.CatalinaMagazine.com. Magazine readers, and web site visitors, are invited to nominate a groundbreaking Latina –- whether it’s themselves, a friend, colleague, or other Latina notable. The entry form is made up of a handful of questions –- from “Give 2 examples each of lasting contributions you have made in your community, at work, and beyond” to “What challenges, personally and professionally, has [your nominated Latina] overcome?”

Dai Min Barclay, Conquest & Diversity Marketing Manager for Volvo Cars of North America, said: “It is our honor and privilege to sponsor this award because Catalina magazine is a highly respected magazine celebrating the achievement of U.S. Latinas and this award reflects the core values of Volvo: care, conscious and character. Through this sponsorship, we hope that we not only honor the contributions Latinas make to their community, but also present Volvo products for the consideration of our Latina consumers.”

Cathy Areu, founder and publisher of Catalina magazine, said: “As a Latina, I am very thankful for companies like Volvo that recognize and award Latinas and all of their efforts at work, at home, and beyond.”

Voted a “favorite” Hispanic Heritage Month event by the Washington Post, Catalina’s third annual Groundbreaking Latina award ceremony will feature powerful speakers, celebrity guests, and entertainment.
