UnivisionDeportes.com launches social soccer channel

UnivisionDeportes.com announced a partnership with juanfutbol to launch Univision’s social-first soccer channel. The channel, which will live on Facebook and feature primarily English-language content, will focus on creating socially-native content for soccer fans.

UnivisionDeportes.com and juanfutbol will partner to create a new sports storytelling arm designed for bilingual, bicultural Hispanic millennials who over-index on mobile, digital video and social. Juanfutbol features compelling and highly engaging content that aims to connect millennials to soccer, including Liga MX, the U.S and Mexican national teams, the MLS, as well as all relevant soccer games and tournaments.

“We are thrilled to partner with juanfutbol to bring unique social storytelling to a digital savvy younger audience, in English,” said Juan Pablo Convers, vice president, business development, Univision Digital. “This partnership will strengthen UCI’s position as the home of soccer and expand our reach and engagement with Hispanic millennials,” added Convers.

Launched in 2014, juanfutbol was created to entertain millennial fans who have changed the way digital media is consumed. The brand has experienced significant growth and popularity in Mexico, constantly reaching millions of young soccer fans across all social and digital platforms.

“We created “Juan” to feel, communicate and be as passionate as any other fan and now we are excited to expand our presence in the U.S. through the Univision partnership,” said Miguel Ramirez Lombana, CEO, juanfutbol. “We look forward to combining our unique soccer content with Univision’s distribution and reach, with the goal of developing the best soccer storytelling brand for U.S. Hispanics millennials,” said Mauricio Cabrera, GM, juanfutbol.
